In Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, you can’t catch Manaphy the usual way. Previously, you needed to transfer over a Manaphy Egg, which could only be found in Pokémon Ranger. But on September 29th, between noon and 3pm, participating Toys“R”Us stores in the United States are offering a free download of Manaphy to your Nintendo DS!
If you’ve seen Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of Sea (and if not, why haven’t you?), then you already know about Manaphy’s mysterious powers. When you import this Legendary Pokémon into your game, you’ll be able to add it to your party and use moves such as Heart Swap and Whirlpool—plus, Manaphy will be holding the Red Scarf item, just like the one in the movie!
Manaphy is a one-of-a-kind Pokemon, so it’s no surprise that it will be caught in an exclusive Poké Ball that you can’t otherwise get while playing Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. When you release it from this Cherish Ball, you and your opponent will be dazzled by a colorful flash!
