Another Peek at New Cards from Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest

See Pokémon VSTAR, Pokémon V, Radiant Pokémon, and more from the upcoming expansion.

We’ve already explored some of the incredible new cards that will appear in the upcoming Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest. Over 190 are featured in the set, though, so we couldn’t resist another peek. Let’s take a look at several more of those cool new cards—including Pokémon VSTAR, Radiant Pokémon, a card from the Trainer Gallery subset, and more—ahead of the expansion’s release on November 11, 2022.

Zeraora V

Zeraora V and its partner Selene are enthusiastically leaping into action on this Rapid Strike card, which is just one of the 30 cards that feature special art in Silver Tempest’s Trainer Gallery subset. In addition to featuring beautiful artwork, Zeraora V also comes ready with a Cross Fist attack that becomes more powerful when you have other Rapid Strike cards in play. Cross Fist does 100 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon, but if another Rapid Strike Pokémon used an attack during your previous turn, this attack also does an additional 160 damage to one of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon. Such an unexpected strike could spell trouble for your opponent—Selene and Zeraora V look like they know it, too!

Regidrago VSTAR

Energy swirls around Regidrago VSTAR as it brings its Dragon-type power to your deck. This card makes extensive use of the discard pile, starting with its Apex Dragon attack. This attack doesn’t do damage by itself, but it does let you use any attack from a Dragon-type Pokémon that has been sent to your discard pile. If you need some help getting cards into the discard pile, take advantage of Regidrago VSTAR’s Legacy Star VSTAR Power. This Ability lets you discard the top 7 cards of your deck and then put up to 2 cards from the discard pile into your hand. With Regidrago VSTAR on your side, you’ll have plenty of options for attacks.

Lugia VSTAR

The fearsome power radiating off Lugia VSTAR as it swoops in for an aerial assault is almost palpable. Its Tempest Dive attack does a potent 220 damage and lets you eliminate any Stadium card that’s in play. You can also turn the tide of battle in your favor with its Summoning Star VSTAR Power: With this Ability, up to 2 Colorless Pokémon from your discard pile can be placed onto your Bench. Just be aware that the Pokémon you choose cannot have a Rule Box, like Pokémon V or Pokémon-GX. Truly, this Ability is a great way to fill out your team.

Radiant Alakazam

Radiant Alakazam’s intense stare is plenty intimidating, but this Pokémon is also prepared to turn the tables on your opponent. Is your opponent holding a lot of cards, potentially giving them multiple ways to bring you down? Turn that strength into a weakness with Radiant Alakazam’s Mind Ruler attack, which does 20 damage for each card in their hand. If you want to spread the hurt around, use its Painful Spoons Ability to move up to two damage counters from one of your opponent’s Pokémon to another member of their team.

Candice

Candice, the leader of the Sinnoh region’s Snowpoint City Gym, may look like she’s chilling out on this Supporter card, but she’s ready to help if you want Water-type Pokémon to dive into battle. Playing this card allows you to look at the top 7 cards of your deck, and any Water-type Pokémon or Energy that you find among them can be placed into your hand. With your squad ready to go, you can make a splash against your opponent.

Discover these and many more cards when the Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Silver Tempest expansion releases on November 11, 2022.
