Flame Charge into Action with Armarouge in Pokémon UNITE

This Ranged Attacker is exploding onto the Aeos Island scene with fiery psychic power.

You’ve seen Ceruledge slash through the competition, and now Armarouge is ready to raise flames in Pokémon UNITE! This Fire- and Psychic-type Pokémon is the other Evolution of Charcadet, a Pokémon that was recently discovered in the Paldea region. Now, the Fire Warrior Pokémon is blasting onto Aeos Island with an auspicious firepower all its own. You’ll start each match with the upstart Charcadet, but you’ll evolve it into the explosive Armarouge before you know it.

You can obtain the Unite license for the Ranged Attacker Armarouge for 13,000 Aeos coins or 790 Aeos gems at the Unite Battle Committee shop. Armarouge will only be obtainable with Aeos gems for the first seven days of its release. Read on to learn more about the Fire Warrior Pokémon before blazing into action on Aeos Island.

Armarouge Basics

Ability: Flash Fire

When Armarouge takes Sp. Atk–based damage from opposing Pokémon, the damage it takes is reduced for a short time, and its next basic attack deals additional damage. Flash Fire goes on cooldown after it’s triggered.

Basic Attack (Charcadet)

Becomes a boosted attack with every third attack, dealing increased damage.

Basic Attack (Armarouge)

Every time Armarouge hits an opposing Pokémon with a basic attack, its cannon gauge increases. When the cannon gauge is full, Armarouge’s next basic attack consumes the entire gauge and becomes a boosted attack. When Armarouge hits an opposing Pokémon with a basic attack, a blazing mark is applied to that Pokémon. If Armarouge hits an opposing Pokémon who has three blazing marks using Fire Spin or Armor Cannon, all the marks are consumed and additional damage is dealt to the opposing Pokémon.

Lv. 1 & 3 Moves

Incinerate

Charcadet attacks the designated opposing Pokémon with a flame, setting it ablaze and dealing damage over time for a short time. When a Pokémon on the opposing team that’s ablaze picks up a Berry, the Berry’s effects are halved.

Will-O-Wisp

Charcadet shoots a flame in the designated direction, dealing damage and applying a slowing effect to opposing Pokémon it hits and leaving them burned for a short time. After Charcadet uses Will-O-Wisp, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack.

Lv. 5 Moves

Fire Spin

Armarouge generates a fierce vortex of fire around itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits. Every time Armarouge deals damage, its Defense and Sp. Def are increased for a short time. This effect can stack up to three times. While the vortex is active, its duration is increased if Armarouge hits opposing Pokémon with a basic attack. Fire Spin can be upgraded to increase movement speed for a short time when it hits an opposing Pokémon.

Armor Cannon

Armarouge combines its shoulder armor and charges power, then fires a blazing ball of flame. Armarouge releases a shock wave in front of itself when firing, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon. The fired ball of flame explodes when it hits an opposing Pokémon or after it travels a set distance, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and leaving them unable to act. Armarouge’s Defense and Sp. Def are decreased for a short time after using Armor Cannon. Armor Cannon can be upgraded to increase the range of both it and basic attacks.

Lv. 7 Moves

Flame Charge

Armarouge cloaks itself in flame and charges in the designated direction, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and shoving them. When Flame Charge hits an opposing Pokémon, Armarouge is granted a shield, and Flame Charge’s cooldown is reduced. For a short time after Armarouge uses Flame Charge, the cannon gauge becomes full and will not decrease after boosted attacks are used. Flame Charge can be upgraded to reduce the damage Armarouge receives for a short time after Flame Charge hits Pokémon on the opposing team.

Psyshock

Armarouge materializes odd psychic waves to attack in three areas of effect in front of itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits while partially ignoring their Sp. Def. The third attack throws opposing Pokémon it hits. For a short time after Armarouge uses Psyshock, the cannon gauge becomes full and will not decrease after boosted attacks are used. Psyshock can be upgraded to increase its area of effect.

Armarouge’s Unite Move, Psykaboom

Armarouge jumps up and charges psychic power, then creates an area that leaves opposing Pokémon unable to act. While Armarouge is charging psychic power, the position of the area can be adjusted. Armarouge then fires a ball of flame towards the center of the area, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon and throwing them outside of the area.

Metagame Watch

Strong Against: Buzzwole

Buzzwole is one of the strongest All-Rounders in Pokémon UNITE—and it can definitely lock down Armarouge in the right situation—but it struggles to execute its combos when locked down by hindrances. Armarouge’s Armor Cannon can hinder Buzzwole from a safe range and give Armarouge’s teammates time to layer other hindrances to keep the Ultra Beast at bay. Keep your distance as Armarouge, though, because it can be difficult to escape a hindrance combo from Buzzwole!

Weak Against: Blaziken

Unfortunately for Armarouge, there are Melee All-Rounders that boast higher mobility and can really threaten its safety in the backline. Blaziken is one of these Pokémon, being able to switch between two fighting styles that allow it to strafe team fights with ease. Blaze Kick can be particularly dangerous for Armarouge, as it can easily shove Armarouge out of position. You’ll want to keep your distance and stick by one of your Defenders to stay safe against the Blaze Pokémon.
