Tinkaton Basics
Ability: Mold Breaker
This Pokémon deals additional damage to opposing Pokémon that have an active shield effect. Each time this Pokémon hits Pokémon from the opposing team with moves or boosted basic attacks, its hammer becomes stronger and its Attack increases (up to 60 times maximum). Also, after the hammer is strengthened 20, 40, and 60 times, Rock Smash, Gigaton Hammer, and Smack Down power up.
Basic Attack
As this Pokémon evolves, its hammer’s size and basic attack range increase. Whenever a set amount of time passes, the next basic attack becomes a boosted attack, dealing increased damage and restoring the user’s HP. When this Pokémon is hit by a basic attack from an opposing Pokémon, this boosted attack’s cooldown is reduced.
Lv. 1 & 3 Moves
Fairy Wind
Tinkatink stirs up a fairy wind in the designated direction, dealing damage and applying a slowing effect to opposing Pokémon it hits.
Rock Smash
Tinkatink swings down its hammer with rock-crushing force, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and leaving them unable to act. The stronger the hammer, the larger Rock Smash’s area of effect.
Lv. 5 Moves
Ice Hammer
Tinkatuff leaps in the designated direction and swings down its freezing hammer, dealing damage, applying a slowing effect to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect, and decreasing their Attack and Sp. Atk for a short time. Ice Hammer can be upgraded to further decrease Attack and Sp. Atk.
Thief
Increases Tinkatuff’s movement speed for a short time. When Tinkatuff is moving toward an opposing Pokémon affected by hindrances, its movement speed is further increased. Also, when Tinkatuff deals damage to opposing Pokémon with its next basic attack, it steals and uses a portion of the Pokémon’s Defense and Sp. Def for a short time. Thief can be upgraded to increase the amount of Defense and Sp. Def Tinkatuff steals.
Lv. 7 Moves
Gigaton Hammer
Tinkaton charges power before swinging down its hammer, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in the area of effect and throwing them. The longer power is charged, the more damage Gigaton Hammer deals, and the longer opposing Pokémon are thrown. The stronger the hammer, the larger Gigaton Hammer’s area of effect. Gigaton Hammer can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.
Smack Down
Tinkaton charges power, then it uses its hammer to send a rock flying to the designated location, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon at the rock’s point of impact and applying a slowing effect to them. The rock flies farther the longer power is charged and flies even farther the stronger the hammer is. Smack Down can be upgraded to reduce its cooldown.
Tinkaton’s Unite Move, Kiss Bliss Kaboom
Tinkaton blows cute kisses at the designated Pokémon from the opposing team and others near it, leaving them unable to act for a short time. If Kiss Bliss Kaboom is used again, Tinkaton slams its hammer down on the designated location, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits.
Metagame Watch
Strong Against: Blissey
Tinkaton’s Mold Breaker Ability makes it the perfect counter to any team that has Blissey among their ranks. One of Blissey’s greatest strengths is shielding its allies with Safeguard or its Unite Move, Bliss Assistance, to keep them healthy and in the fray. Since Tinkaton’s Mold Breaker deals bonus damage to shielded Pokémon, it effectively neutralizes these effects and smashes through their defenses. If Pokémon with shield effects seem unusually popular, you’ll definitely want to bring Tinkaton into battle!
Weak Against: Miraidon
Tinkaton’s Ice Hammer and Thief are both powerful moves that help it get into close range with its opponents, but when Miraidon opts to use Charge Beam for maximum range, it can be difficult for the Hammer Pokémon to smack it down. Players using Tinkaton may want to opt for Smack Down to chase down Ranged Attackers like Miraidon, but coordinating a multi-Pokémon attack on the Paradox Pokémon with hindrances and Tinkaton’s Gigaton Hammer may prove more successful.
