Lunar New Year 2025 is ushering in the Year of the Snake, and Pokémon GO Trainers can join the party with the Lunar New Year event. The celebration kicks off January 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and ends on February 2, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Make the most of the Lunar New Year with event bonuses that include an increased chance of getting a Lucky Pokémon in trades and an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends.

Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild will include Ekans, Onix, Gyarados, Dratini, Dunsparce, Snivy, and Darumaka. The odds of encountering a Shiny Ekans in the wild will also increase. Plus, Pokémon hatching from 2 km Eggs will include Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi, and you’ll have an increased chance of hatching a Shiny Nosepass.

And if you need a little research to help you kick off the Lunar New Year, you’ll have plenty of options, including Field Research, Timed Research, and paid Timed Research. Trainers that complete event-themed Field Research tasks can earn Stardust and encounters with event-themed Pokémon. Timed Research will focus on exploring Routes, with rewards including XP, Stardust, and 10 Zygarde Cells. And lastly, Premium Timed Research will be available for US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). Complete the tasks before February 2, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time to earn rewards including two Lucky Eggs, one Incubator, and encounters with Ekans and Nosepass.
