This season's Pokémon TCG Regional Championships will feature the Expanded format. Unlike last season, both the Swiss rounds and the single-elimination finals will use the Expanded format. Because all Standard decks are legal in the Expanded format, players may use the same decks they use for Standard format tournaments. The Pokémon TCG Spring Regionals will be held on the weekends of May 14, 21, and 28, 2016. Gameplay typically begins on Saturday and concludes on Sunday. Check the tournament listings for details.
Are there any requirements for attendance?
The Spring Regional Championships do not require an invitation or qualification. All players in good standing are welcome to participate. Players need to bring their own 60-card Expanded format deck. Please read the Pokémon TCG tournament rules and formats document.
What is the entry fee?
Players in all age divisions will be charged an entry fee determined by the tournament organizer. See event listing for details.
What are the prizes?
Prizes are awarded to the top players in each of three age divisions. Players must have a Pokémon Trainer Club account with a Player ID attached, and must have opted in to the Play! Pokémon program in order to earn points and awards.
All participants will receive 3 Play! Points and a Pokémon Regional Championships promo card (while supplies last), just for playing! Top players receive Championship Points as detailed here.

Information on Travel Awards and Stipends will be released at a later date.
* Players may earn a bye at a country other than their country of residence. Byes are awarded at the National Championships corresponding to the player’s nationality. Byes do not “stack.” If you have won a bye in another event (such as the State and Provincial Championships) and finish in the finals of a Regional Championships, you will receive a maximum first- and second-round bye at your National Championships.
