Farigiraf ex, Maximum Belt, and More from Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces

From adorable art to ACE SPEC cards, get a sneak peek at what’s coming in the newest expansion.

The Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces expansion is a chaotic and stunning tribute to the power and diversity of the Pokémon world. Ancient and Future Pokémon run amok, Tera Pokémon ex flex their incredible strength, and ruptures in time introduce wild beasts and cyber visions into the melee. As if all that wasn’t exciting enough, the return of ACE SPEC cards introduces uniquely powerful effects. Let’s take a peek at some of the stunning art and feisty Pokémon you’ll find in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces expansion, officially available March 22, 2024.

Farigiraf ex

There’s something strangely elegant about illustrator 5ban Graphics’ Farigiraf ex. Maybe it’s the long, graceful neck accentuated by a dramatic Tera Jewel headpiece. Maybe it’s the fact that when Terastallized, its second head slightly resembles an astronaut’s helmet, which suggests that when it comes to Farigiraf ex’s skill and potential, the sky’s the limit. Of course, there’s more to the Long Neck Pokémon than, well, a long neck. The Pokémon’s Armor Tail Ability prevents all damage done to it by attacks from your opponent’s Basic Pokémon ex. And Farigiraf ex’s Dirty Beam attack does a substantial 160 damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon while also doing 30 damage to one of their Benched Pokémon. With an impressive 260 HP, it won’t be easy to take down, but as a Pokémon ex, if Farigiraf ex does get Knocked Out, your opponent will claim two Prize cards.

Maximum Belt

It’s been years since a new Pokémon TCG expansion included ACE SPEC cards, and Maximum Belt falls into this highly anticipated card category. There’s no denying that Maximum Belt delivers on damage, providing your Pokémon with the necessary oomph to potentially Knock Out even a Pokémon ex with a single hit. More specifically, when Maximum Belt is attached to a Pokémon, that Pokémon’s attacks do an additional 50 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon ex. Of course, you are limited to a single ACE SPEC card in each deck, so it’s important that you use it wisely and get the max damage out of Maximum Belt.

Lickitung

  • Illustrator: Orca

If you’re looking for a sweet slice of life from the Pokémon world, illustrator Orca’s Lickitung delivers an abundance of charm. The unapologetically pink Pokémon can be seen sneaking a lick of a snow cone that is turning the tip of its tongue blue. While it’s difficult to turn your attention away from the roguish Pokémon savoring its ill-gotten treat, the art gets even better the more you study the scene around it. The toys in the background and discarded artwork on the floor in the foreground suggest the presence of children, and a story begins to develop: the children took off after enjoying dessert and creating art, leaving their lucky Lickitung to clean up after them. From a competitive perspective, Lickitung is equipped with Tongue Pull, which can be used to look at your opponent’s hand and put up to 2 Basic Pokémon you find there onto your opponent’s Bench. Its Strength attack does 50 damage.

Salvatore

This language teacher is here to help school your opponents! Finding and evolving your Pokémon quickly can be a major challenge in Pokémon TCG battles, and this Supporter card offers a solution. With Salvatore, you can search your deck for a card that has no Abilities and evolves from one of your Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. This card can even be used for a Pokémon that you put down during game setup or a Pokémon that was put into play this turn. And judging by Salvatore’s suave pose and facial expression—as depicted by artist Ryuta Fuse—he’s more than happy to be of service.

Morty’s Conviction

In yet another charming slice-of-life artwork, Ecruteak City Gym Leader Morty and his Gengar enjoy a peaceful coffee together. Illustrator Megumi Mizutani captures the bond between Morty and his Pokémon through the overall sense of peace that the art communicates and the satisfaction on Morty’s face as he watches Gengar. The masterful use of light compounded by small details like the leaves scattered on the ground create a scene you feel you could step into. Trainers who use this card can experience their own sense of satisfaction as well—and enjoy the opportunity to draw a card for each of their opponent’s Benched Pokémon after discarding a card from their hand, too.

These are just a few of the incredible cards you'll find in the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces expansion. See what other cool cards you can discover when the expansion releases on March 22, 2024.
