For the first time in Pokémon GO, Grimer and Muk are dressed to impress with party hats. Additionally, Shiny Meltan might appear for Trainers who use the Mystery Box during the event. Party favors—erm, event bonuses include an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends, an increased chance for Lucky Pokémon in trades, and Friendship levels increasing more quickly. Trainers may also find 8, 88, or possibly even more Gimmighoul Coins after spinning a PokéStop with a Golden Lure Module.

  • 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during this time

  • Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip will be appearing more frequently in the wild

• June 30, at 12:00 a.m. to July 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time

  • 2× XP for catching Pokémon

  • Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott will be appearing more frequently in the wild

• July 2, at 12:00 a.m. to July 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time

  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon

  • Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio will be appearing more frequently in the wild

A variety of other party Pokémon will be appearing in the wild too, including Bulbasaur wearing a party hat, Charmander wearing a party hat, Squirtle wearing a party hat, Pikachu wearing a cake hat, Grimer wearing a party hat, Eevee wearing a party hat, Alolan Grimer, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Special Pokémon will also be appearing in one-star raids during the event, including Bulbasaur wearing a party hat, Charmander wearing a party hat, Squirtle wearing a party hat, Pikachu wearing a cake hat, and Grimer wearing a party hat.

It’s not a party without Pokémon research, and there is no shortage of research opportunities during the eighth anniversary event. Trainers can complete event-themed Field Research tasks for encounters with first partner Pokémon including Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, and more. Complete Timed Research to earn XP, Stardust, and encounters with Pokémon including Raticate wearing a party hat, Nidorino wearing a party hat, Wobbuffet wearing a party hat, Meltan, and more.

Paid Timed Research will be available for US$2.00 (or the equivalent in your local currency). Trainers who complete Paid Timed Research will earn one Incubator, one Super Incubator, one Premium Battle Pass, one Lucky Egg, one Rocket Radar, one Star Piece, one Incense, one Poffin, 88,888 XP, and an encounter with Meltan. Research must be completed and rewards claimed before July 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Take a walk on the wild side with the Whispers in the Woods Masterwork Research story, available for US$5.00. Complete the research to earn an encounter with Shiny Celebi. Trainers who purchase this Masterwork Research story or have previously received the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story will also be able to enjoy double Incense duration, double Daily Adventure Incense duration, and double Lucky Egg duration during the event.
