Since Hoopa Unbound’s November 2021 debut in the Mischief Unbound event, opportunities to encounter this Pokémon in Pokémon GO have been few and far between, which makes the Hoopa Unbound Raid Day event on February 15, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time especially exciting. During this event, Hoopa Unbound will appear more frequently in five-star raids. The event will also allow Trainers to obtain up to five additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs, for a total of seven during the event, making it easier to participate in as many raids as possible against the Djinn Pokémon. Additionally, from February 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. PST to February 15, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PST the Remote Raid Pass limit will increase to 20.
Trainers who want to get more out of their Hoopa Unbound Raid Day experience can purchase an event ticket for US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing in your local currency), which is available in the in-game shop until February 15, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. local time. The event ticket grants the following bonuses.
-
Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 15)
-
Increased chance of obtaining Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
-
50% more XP from Raid Battles
-
2× Stardust from Raid Battles

What to Do with Hoopa Unbound After You’ve Caught It
Fast Attacks: Astonish (Ghost), Confusion (Psychic)
Charged Attacks: Dark Pulse (Dark), Shadow Ball (Ghost), Psychic (Psychic)

Despite not being considered particularly effective in the GO Battle League, Hoopa Unbound is one of the strongest Psychic-type attackers in all of Pokémon GO. Aside from a handful of Mega Pokémon, Mewtwo is the only Psychic-type Pokémon that can best Hoopa Unbound’s usefulness in raids. If you’re looking to add some depth to your Psychic-type team for raids, it’s worth participating in as many Hoopa Unbound raids as possible. Hoopa Unbound boasts an extremely high max CP, so it’s important to stock up on as much Hoopa Candy as possible to power up your Pokémon.
Happy mischief making, Trainers!
