Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus and Lenora & Watchog in Pokémon Masters EX

Watch out for these two sync pairs as they investigate a quite-possibly-haunted museum.

Lear is opening a brand-new museum on Pasio filled with gorgeous artifacts for people to enjoy. To ensure the success of his newest endeavor, he’s recruited the help of Roxanne and Lenora. But some seriously scary rumors have started circulating—museum security even reports hearing sobbing at night! Roxanne and Lenora vow to get to the bottom of it and team up with the Ghost-type specialist Phoebe, who’s been feeling a mysterious pull toward the museum... Find out how the tale unfolds in Pokémon Masters EX’s newest story event, The Haunted Museum!

Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus

Roxanne is dressed to impress in a spooky new outfit alongside a Pokémon that emphasizes her interest in minerals. Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus are a Ground-type tech sync pair that love to trap their opponents with Sand Tomb and reduce their Speed and Defense with the powerful buddy move Grudgeful Bulldoze. When there is at least one trapped Pokémon on the opponent’s field of play, Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus can use Grudgeful Bulldoze to lower the target’s Defense and Speed by one stat rank—they also raise the Defense and Speed of all allied sync pairs by one stat rank at the same time.

For more details on this sync pair’s passive skills and moves, check out Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus’s in-game sync pair scout screen. Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus are available to scout until October 31, 2023, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Recommended Sync Pairs to Partner with Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus

  • Sonia & Yamper
Runerigus is a Pokémon that was discovered in the Galar region, so it’s only logical that Pokémon Researcher Sonia can help get the most out of Roxanne’s newest partner. Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus can easily raise their critical-hit rate with their Trainer move, I See It All!, but have no way to raise their Attack stat. Sonia & Yamper can help with their Trainer move, Ruff Buff!, which raises the Attack and Defense of all allied sync pairs by two stat ranks.

They can even help wear down the opposition with their passive skill, Defense Crush 9, which lowers the target’s Defense by one stat rank when their attack move is successful. Sonia & Yamper can be scouted from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and the 5★-Guaranteed Galar Ticket Scout.

  • Courtney & Camerupt
Courtney & Camerupt are currently the only sync pair in Pokémon Masters EX that can turn the field of play into a Ground Zone—they achieve this by using their Trainer move Ground Wish. A Ground Zone increases the damage of all Ground-type moves, which benefits Roxanne (Fall 2023) & Runerigus greatly. Like Sonia & Yamper, Courtney & Camerupt can also help whittle down the opponent’s Defense stat with Defense Crush 9. Courtney & Camerupt can be scouted from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and the 5★-Guaranteed Hoenn Ticket Scout.

Lenora & Watchog

Lenora makes her way to Pasio for the first time along with Watchog, a Pokémon first discovered in the Unova region. Lenora & Watchog are a Normal-type support sync pair that excel at lowering the defenses of their opponents with their Trainer move Leer and passive skill Use Status P-Move on Opp: Sp. Def ↓ 9. Leer lowers the target’s Defense by one stat rank and Use Status P-Move on Opp: Sp. Def ↓ 9 puts on even more pressure by lowering the target’s Sp. Def by one stat rank when Lenora & Watchog use a status move targeting that opponent. This makes the sync pair exceptionally flexible for teams that deal both physical and special damage.

For more details on this sync pair’s passive skills and moves, check out Lenora & Watchog’s in-game sync pair scout screen. Lenora & Watchog are available to scout from the Lenora Spotlight Scout banner until October 31, 2023, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Recommended Sync Pairs to Partner with Lenora & Watchog

  • Lusamine & Pheromosa
Most strike sync pairs focus on doing either physical damage or special damage, but there are a few that can reliably do both with the right setup and support. Lusamine & Pheromosa can do physical damage with Lunge and deal special damage with Bug Buzz and Blizzard. You’ll often want to prioritize one move over another when preparing for a battle, but Lenora & Watchog’s Leer and Use Status P-Move on Opp: Sp. Def ↓ 9 make it possible to support each playstyle equally.

Whether you want to put your opponents on ice with Blizzard or be a pest with Bug Buzz, Lenora & Watchog can assure that Lusamine & Pheromosa are doing maximum damage. Lusamine & Pheromosa can be scouted from the general pool of 5★ sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and the 5★-Guaranteed Alola Ticket Scout.

  • Zinnia & Rayquaza
This sync pair from the Hoenn region is another strike sync pair that can reliably do both physical and special damage with Outrage and Draco Meteor. After Mega Evolving, Zinnia & Rayquaza also have the powerful physical move Dragon Ascent. The added flexibility from Lenora & Watchog’s Leer and Use Status P-Move on Opp: Sp. Def ↓ 9 combination makes it possible to bring Zinnia & Rayquaza to a wider variety of battles.

Like with Lusamine & Pheromosa, you’ll want to prioritize one type of damage over the other to ensure that this duo can push their damage output sky high. Zinnia & Rayquaza can be obtained after completing The Dragon That Rules the Sky in the Villain Arc section of the main story.

Stay sharp out there, Trainers!
