You’ve probably sowed seeds of victory with Celebi ex, crashed into battle with Gyarados ex, and unleashed Fighting-type fury with Aerodactyl ex in Pokémon TCG Pocket. But have you tried soaring the skies of battle with Pidgeot ex? It may not have the flashiest feathers, but between Pidgeot's unique flexibility as a Pokémon and the power of its Scattering Cyclone attack, it can still blow away your opponents. Just as important as this Bird Pokémon, though, is its Dragon-type partner, Druddigon, whose bulk and Ability makes it possible for these two to really spin up trouble.

Pidgeot ex is an evolving Stage 2 Pokémon, which means it needs more time before it can really contribute to battle—especially with its Scattering Cyclone attack having a cost of . With that in mind, you want a “wall Pokémon” that can sit in the Active Spot and tank a couple of hits while you set up your true attacker. Druddigon not only boasts a solid 100 HP for this role but can chip into the opposing Active Pokémon’s HP with its Rough Skin Ability. This can either soften up your opponent’s Active Pokémon or discourage them from attacking altogether since Rough Skin’s damage punishes multiple low Energy attacks. Because Pidgeot ex is your main attacker with a attack cost, you can also choose to have and Energy appear in your Energy zone, making Druddigon a potential attacker in a pinch!
Druddigon is arguably the premier wall Pokémon in Pokémon TCG Pocket, but Tauros can fit into a similar role in games where it starts in the Active Spot and provides the option to strike back hard against Pokémon ex with its Fighting Tackle attack. It can also be your first attacker in certain games, hiding behind Druddigon before trampling the opponent’s Active Pokémon ex. In that vein, Mew ex fits into the fold as another secondary attacker thanks to its powerful Genome Hacking attack having an attack cost of . We recommend saving Mew ex for situations where your opponent’s Active Pokémon has a powerful attack, with prime examples being Charizard ex and Mewtwo ex.
We’ve talked a lot about Pidgeot ex’s partners, so it’s time to focus on the prize Pokémon ex itself. Its Scattering Cyclone attack is exceptional for punishing opponents that fill up their Bench at the end of the game (we see you, Pikachu ex) and caps out at a solid 140 damage. With that damage cap, Pidgeot ex naturally struggles to Knock Out higher-HP Pokémon ex, but we have a couple of answers. Giovanni can help you take a Knock Out, Sabrina can force a Pokémon with fewer HP to the fore, or you can swing big with Mew ex. The beauty of building a deck around Pidgeot ex is that you have a ton of options, so be sure to experiment with other attackers and Trainers of your own!
