Initial Strategy
Raging Bolt ex’s Bellowing Thunder attack can do voluminous damage when you discard Basic Energy attached to your Pokémon—even your Benched ones!
Afterwards, retrieve Basic Fighting Energy cards from your discard pile with Garganacl’s Energizing Rock Salt Ability, which also heals the Pokémon it attaches Energy to and allows Raging Bolt ex to use Bellowing Thunder all over again in your next turn! With a bit of luck, Energy Sticker can also accelerate an Energy card from your discard pile, but note that it can only attach to a Benched Pokémon. And don’t be afraid to use PokéStop, too! While it will discard the top 3 cards of your deck, any Item cards will be shipped back into your hand, and any Energy cards can be recycled with Garganacl or Energy Sticker.
To get to the cards that grant you extra Energy attachments, you’ll need to dig into your deck. Gutsy Pickaxe is the perfect Item for the job—it reveals the top card of your deck and attaches a Basic Fighting Energy card found this way to 1 of your Benched Pokémon. If you don’t find an Energy, you still get to draw that card. A trusty pair of Trekking Shoes can also make your expedition fruitful, allowing you to look at the top card of your deck and then discard it if you want. Afterward, it’ll draw you a card.
Make your way through Tier 16 to unlock the cards listed below:
Card Drops
3 Sandy Shocks ex PAR 108 |
1 Mew ex MEW 151 |
1 Raging Bolt ex TEF 123 |
1 Squawkabilly ex PAL 169 |
4 Professor Sada’s Vitality PAR 170 |
1 Penny SVI 183 |
2 Switch Cart ASR 154 |
1 Pal Pad SVI 182 |
1 Prime Catcher TEF 157 |
Many of these cards can be added to your deck to provide more power and flexibility. But to add cards, you’ll also need to remove cards. We’ve highlighted some cards in the “Starting Deck” list that you might consider swapping out for the new ones, but feel free to mix and match!
Updated Strategy
Rather than relying on evolving into the Stage 2 Garganacl, try using Sandy Shocks ex, a Basic Pokémon whose Magnetic Absorption Ability will attach a Basic Fighting Energy card to itself every turn. But take note that you can only use this Ability if your opponent has 4 or fewer Prize cards remaining.
Professor Sada’s Vitality is the new marquee Supporter card for this deck. Not only does it attach a Basic Energy card from your discard pile to 2 of your Ancient Pokémon, but it also draws you 3 cards in the process! Penny is another Supporter card that can help you in a pinch: it can get a Pokémon that’s stuck in the Active Spot back into your hand, remove a Pokémon that’s close to being Knocked Out from play, and more. While it only works on Basic Pokémon, your updated list is now all Basic Pokémon.
Speaking of Basic Pokémon, Mew ex and Squawkabilly ex can both help you dig deeper into your deck with their Abilities. Mew ex is especially useful thanks to its free retreat, which makes it easy to promote after one of your Pokémon is Knocked Out and allows you to take full advantage of all the Pokémon Tool cards that attach to your Benched Pokémon.
Reaching the End
Make your way to Tier 50 to unlock a special illustration rare version of Raging Bolt ex! You can swap this into your deck to smack down your foes at breakneck speed.
Now that you’ve mastered the awesome power of Raging Bolt ex, it’s time to see what the future has in store (and thankfully, you can find out right now!)

2 Super Rod PAL 188 |
4 Future Booster Energy Capsule PAR 164 |
Energy: 15 |
11 Basic Energy SVE 004 |
4 Basic Energy SVE 005 |
Initial Strategy
Many of your Future Pokémon have hefty attack costs. Thankfully, Miraidon can help power them up with its Peak Acceleration attack for a single Energy—while doing 40 damage in the process. Iron Crown ex’s Cobalt Command Ability can boost that damage further, making this set-up attack something to fear. You can increase this even more with Future Booster Energy Capsule, which not only adds 20 more damage, but also gives the Pokémon it’s attached to free retreat!
Sometimes you won’t have the tempo to use Miraidon’s Peak Acceleration. When that happens, Electric Generator can let you look at the top 5 cards of your deck and attach up to 2 Basic Lightning Energy cards you find there to any of your Benched Iron Thorns. This Future Pokémon’s Destructo-Press attack reveals the top 5 cards of your deck and discards any Future cards you find there for massive damage.
Luckily, there’s a simple way to set up both Electric Generator and Iron Thorns. Ciphermaniac’s Codebreaking lets you stack any 2 cards from your deck on top in any order, helping to make those otherwise random effects much easier to predict.
By Tier 14, the following cards will be granted to you:
Card Drops
3 Iron Crown ex TEF 206 |
3 Iron Hands ex PAR 248 |
2 Iron Valiant ex PAR 249 |
4 Ciphermaniac’s Codebreaking TEF 198 |
2 Lost Vacuum CRZ 135 |
1 Reboot Pod TEF 158 |
Cards highlighted in the “Starting Deck” list are suggested cuts to make way for your new ones, but you can adjust as you like!
Updated Strategy
With your upgraded list, your strategy has become even easier to execute. Use Iron Hands ex’s Amp You Very Much to take a Knock Out to earn yourself an additional Prize card. While this attack only does 120 base damage, Iron Crown ex and Future Booster Energy Capsule will increase its damage—up to 220 damage if you have them all in play, enough to Knock Out some Basic Pokémon V and Pokémon ex. You can make it even easier to take Knock Outs in this way with the help of Iron Valiant ex and its Tachyon Bits Ability, which puts 2 damage counters on an opponent’s Pokémon when it switches into the Active Spot.
Commanding Presence
If you make it all the way to Tier 50 of the Premium Pass, you can obtain a fourth copy of the special illustration rare Iron Crown ex! Swap it into your deck to reign over the competition in style.
Enjoy your new decks, Trainers!
